What are you from?

I’m a native English speaker, from Cumbria (the Lake District) in North-West England.

Where have you worked?

I’ve taught English in Italy, Poland and China and have also been a journalist. Since moving to London, I have worked for a leading language school in Kensington.

I now teach independently, with a new English language service. My emphasis is on fun, communicative teaching.

What are your qualifications?

  • CELTA (Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults

  • Cambridge TKT specialisation in teaching Young Learners (Grade 4)

  • MA English Literature

  • DBS checked

  • Safeguarding (child protection) certificate

  • NCTJ Newspaper Journalism

Who have you taught?

My students come from all over the world and have included Embassy staff, finance and media professionals, across London companies.

I have also taught children and teenagers for many years with a focus on the Trinity Exam programme and on increasing spoken confidence.

What are your interests?

I really enjoy language, literature and the arts. I have led English language educational tours of London’s museums and galleries, and have also worked as an educational assistant at the Keats-Shelley House in Rome.

What is your teaching method?

I use a communicative, student-centred technique, with a focus on speaking and placing grammar into a practical context. The lessons are planned according to the unique needs of every student.

While taking students to London’s museums and galleries, I use the CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning) method, in which means students not only study English but also learn about subjects like art, history and science too.
