How do the lessons work?

Free consultation meeting

Pleased to meet you! Your first step will be to meet your teacher in a free, no-obligation consultation to discuss your learning needs and requirements in a friendly, informal chat.

You can take a short written and spoken test of your English grammar and vocabulary, to find out your current level (European Framework levels A1 - C2).

We then create a personal programme of study based on your level and goals for improvement.

The English lessons

Let’s study! The English lessons are planned to meet your unique requirements. Many students want to focus on speaking skills, while we can also work on writing, reading, listening, pronunciation or practical tasks, such as job interviews or preparation for exams.

Most lessons start with an interactive explanation of a grammar or other language point. We then practice and master it, before moving onto free conversation or a role-play situation.

Lessons typically include:

  • Grammar topics, with correction of general errors throughout the lesson.

  • Pronunciation practice and correction of word stress and phonetic difficulties.

  • Real-world materials, such as newspaper articles and literature.

  • Specialist vocabulary related to professions, industries and common situations, such as shopping.

  • Idiomatic English, polite and informal English, and insights into British culture.

Feedback and support

Here to help! Questions are encouraged at any point during the lessons. Homework and tests will help strengthen your new skills, and identify areas that need further attention. Throughout the lessons, your teacher will offer feedback and corrections of your grammar, pronunciation and vocabulary.

The aim is for you to use English more accurately and confidently in a range of practical situations. We hope you will quickly feel you are progressing and that you feel proud of your achievements!
